Calcium Chloride Used in Two Vaccines Licensed in the U.S.

calcium chlorideStory Highlights
  • Calcium chloride is an ingredient used in vaccines.
  • It is used as a medium nutrient in vaccines.
  • The toxic effects of calcium chloride on human health have not been studied thoroughly.

Paying close attention to what we put in our bodies is the first step to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The most basic example is our diet because there are consequences to eating food that can either help or harm our health.

Consuming processed foods on a daily basis will have entirely different health outcomes compared to eating fresh and whole foods. When health is of concern, we become consciously aware of what we are eating by reading labels on food products in order to avoid consuming ingredients that may harm our bodies. Similarly, those with food sensitivities take extra precaution to avoid any foods that act as “triggers” for unwanted adverse effects, even though the same ingredients may have no adverse effect on someone else.

The same logic applies to vaccine ingredients. This article introduces a vaccine ingredient known as calcium chloride.

What is Calcium Chloride?

Calcium chloride is an inorganic ionic compound of calcium and chlorine.1 It is a salt at room temperature and is highly soluble in water. In the United States, calcium chloride is derived by the purification of brine.2

Calcium chloride primarily used for de-icing roads in the winter and dust control during road surfacing.1

Calcium chloride is also used in water treatment,3 male animal sterilization4 and as a food additive in products such as canned vegetables, sports drinks, pickles, sliced apples, cheese, beer and chocolate bars.5 Additionally, it is used in pharmacology and happens to be an ingredient used in vaccines as well.6

Calcium Chloride in Vaccines: Limited Information Available

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vaccine Excipient and Media Summary lists two vaccines that contain calcium chloride:

  • Rotavirus (Rotarix) approved for use in infants six weeks to 24 weeks of age.6 7
  • Influenza (Afluria) approved for use in persons over the age of nine.6 8

Similar to many other vaccine ingredients, information pertaining to the role of calcium chloride in vaccines is very limited and unclear. According to the Institute of Vaccine Safety at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, calcium chloride is used as a medium nutrient in the above vaccines.9 Lab Tests Online, a website designed to help individuals, patients and family caregivers to better understand clinical laboratory tests defines a medium nutrient as “Material that provides the proper nutritional environment to promote the growth of microorganisms.”10 Not much else is known on its specific role in vaccines.

Calcium Chloride: Materials Safety Record and Toxicity

According to the Materials and Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on ScienceLab.com, calcium chloride is hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant), eye contact (irritant), ingestion and inhalation. The MSDS does not address the effects of calcium chloride through injection. Toxicological information is provided by the MSDS, which describes the biological effects of calcium chloride on humans as:

Mutagenic for mammalian somatic cells, mutagenic for bacteria and/or yeast and may cause damage to the following organs: heart, cardiovascular system. May affect genetic material based on animal data. May cause cancer (tumorigenic) based on animal data.11

The MSDS further provides these special remarks of its effects on humans:

Skin: May cause severe irritation and possible burns, especially if skin is wet. Contact with dry skin causes mild irritation. Contact of solid with moist/wet skin or skin contact with strong solutions may cause marked irritation or possible burns.

Eyes: May cause severe irritation, possible transient corneal injury, and possible eye burns.

Inhalation: May cause severe irritation of the upper respiratory tract with pain, inflammation and possible burns.

Ingestion: May cause severe gastrointestinal (digestive) tract irritation with nausea, vomiting and possible burns. May affect cardiovascular system (cardiac disturbances, slow heart beat), behavior (seizures), metabolism, blood, and brain, respiration (rapid respiration).

Chronic Potential Health Effects: Effects may be delayed.11

Calcium Chloride: Lack of Scientific Research on Human Health

As with many other vaccine ingredients, it is quite apparent that there is a lack of basic scientific research on the toxic effects of calcium chloride on human health and its effects via injection. Although calcium chloride in vaccines may only be present in small concentrations, traditional toxicity testing ignores the long-term effects of repeated periodic exposures to low concentrations of dangerous substances12

What is not known is the long-term effect of calcium chloride on human health when there are repeated oral or injection exposures, and whether or not there is a harmful synergistic effect when it interacts with other numerous ingredients in vaccines.

  1. I urge you to please slow down and think about what you are writing.

Calcium chloride, in SOLID form, is dangerous. Calcium chloride in aqueous solution is no worse than sodium chloride in solution. Concentration of the solution will determine its harmfulness or innocence. The calcium chloride used in vaccines is probably used for the purpose stated – to provide a proper nutritional environment for whatever organism is needed to produce the antigens used in vaccines.

When you start demonizing an innocent salt and looking for ways something innocuous might kill a person, you are exposing yourself as a poor scientist. You are opening yourself up to ridicule and loss of credibility.

I strongly support the call for vaccine safety and the freedom to choose whether to receive vaccines or not.

I am also a scientist by training and trade. A piece of solid, ELEMENTAL SODIUM is explosive in an environment with oxygen. It will catch fire. It will cause a terrible chemical burn on human skin. A chunk of SODIUM CHLORIDE will absorb moisture from the air and dissolve into a puddle. The more water you mix with sodium chloride the more it resembles the ocean.

Red blood cells immersed in pure water will burst. Red blood cells immersed in water with the same concentration of sodium chloride as that found in human serum will remain intact. Does that make pure water MORE DANGEROUS that salt water? It depends on context.

In this case, your characterization of calcium chloride as a potentially harmful ingredient in vaccines makes you look somewhat hysterical, and definitely leaves you open to ridicule.

Please, please back up and get your perspective vetted before publishing something that will make “anti-vaxxers” look ignorant. It damages the effort for safety and informed consent.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    1. I think the point of the article is that there is not enough research and evidence of the effects of this substance in people. It is basically questioning the toxicity of this substance which is what we should be doing – QUESTIONING EVERYTHING!

    2. Thank you Lisa. I, too, support vaccine safety and whole-heartedly reject mandatory vaccination policies. I like sharing articles and information to others not so open or perhaps blinded by “CDC recommendations” and their M.D.’s. Some articles have some great info to educate but end up looking like fear mongering quackery (which is what is used many times in the pro vax literature/marketing). I would like to show strong science as well as thought papers that represent a respectable voice of reason to be able to share. I know how much research I’ve done and I know my thoughts and feelings regarding this topic. Not many will do the extent that I have done as a layperson but when presenting to legislatures or at community health events, it’s important to show credibility in the work and bridge people to seeing the information in a new light.

    3. Thank you for your review and reply. I also feel it is very important that the arguments against vaccines be well researched and thought out before being publicized. We have enough going against us. We need to show ourselves as calm, thoughtful and informed as much as possible.

    4. @Lisa Nelson

The administration route is really important. Millions of people take oral Zinc Gluconate; some of them are males and their doctors indicated Zinc Gluconate in order to solve some fertility problems. Ad it works wonders! It is true, there are many studies about the importance of zinc in fertility issues.
There are also people that take L-arginine for different reasons.
If you put these 2 together and you INJECT them … let’s say you inject them in the testicles of a male subject ( or in the scrotum) you’ll get a different effect. Read .. and you’ll find out! Or ask a veterinary doc.
And … if you talk to a veterinary doc .. ask him / her what;s happening to male dogs when you inject calcium chloride !! Just ONE injection in a certain body area!

    5. I certainly do not like what the MSDS states and if you look further no synergistic effects are looked at in effect with the entire schedule, ONCE AGAIN! I say their are a lot of atheistic scientists out there making these things, who have looked at one too many gigantic boards full of equations, and who at ACIP meetings, will admit they “really do not know how these things really work, nor do we know how the sun works.”Stanley Plotkin… 9 hr. Legal Deposition.
AND You sit through 2 days of ACIP meetings, you hear a lot.
At the FDA: blood, plasma, vaccines division, they had to admit to me their are no safety studies for the entire schedule. Each individual vaccine is tested to see if it produces a titre. That’s it.
Live virus vaccines are not supposed to be given too closely together however because it may effect the efficacy of the vaccine.
      https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/vaccinecompensation/vaccineinjurytable.pdf
They go a lot on assumption as they do for aluminum as an adjuvant, to aggravate, er um stimulate the immune response once again, as per Stanley Plotkin, it has been assumed aluminum is safe to be injected. I swear how much more are people going to swallow, when these things, i.e. the “polio vaccine on a sugar cube!” that was given to so many children PRIOR to it being made illegal because it contained leukemia virus.
Don’t put blind faith in their pseudo science that thinks the HHS gold standard of a true double blind inert placebo safety study is too good for vaccines, as they DO NOT undergo this gold standard process. Tsk, Tsk. Add this to the equation of Dr. Andrew Zimmerman’s sworn statement, and Dr. William Thompson’s statements, multiply that times 17 untested vaccines, and the untold numbers begin to reveal themselves.

  2. Some people are allergic to calcium chloride. I know a woman who recently discovered her allergy after drinking bottled water that contained it. She broke out in hives. Imagine the reaction she’d have had if it was injected!

  3. Hey! Look at the idiot “scientist” arguing that a substance that the Material Safety Data Sheets says is harmful, mutation causing poison is just perfectly fine and safe when injecting it via vaccines in TOTAL ABSENCE of studies on the effects of injecting said substance! Much “science”. Very “logical”. Because, of course, when we put po I sons in vaccines, they magically become perfectly safe and even beneficial because we BELIEVE in the beneficence of vaccines even in the face of known and labeled poisons, neurotoxins and carcinogens that we include by the power of “science” and the willful turning of a blind eye to the massive harm reported by recipients of vaccines, and the massive harm caused by the medical system seeking to mandate vaccines on all! After all, the medical system oly kills 440k people per year making it the 3rd leading CAUSE of death, with a 1 in 4 chance of harm every time you go see a doctor. “Science based” medicine has been such a boon for humanity! Maybe if they try real hard to continue being profit brainwashed reality denying patient experience belittling idiots, they can make it to #1!

Lisa, your brainwashed idiocy is showing. Please stop killing people with your reality denying ignorance. Poison doesn’t magically stop being toxic when it is an ingredient in vaccines.

  4. I think the point of the article is that there is not enough research and evidence of the effects of this substance in people. It is basically questioning the toxicity of this substance which is what we should be doing – QUESTIONING EVERYTHING!

  5. I would like to implement the following, for every shot (or whatever is delivery system) administered to my children, the nurse and the doctor should receive the same (it is harmless and beneficial, isn’t it ?) I agree to pay for this out of my pocket.

  6. Calcium chlorid is completely dissociated in aqueous solution, that means the body won’t face calcium chloride as a salt but as calcium2+ and chlorid- ions. It has already been discussed here that blood contains significant amounts of dissociated sodium chloride, so let us have a look at calcium2+. Afluria for example contains 0.5 micrograms of calcium chlorid that means approximately 0.2 micrograms of calcium2+ ions (as they are less heavy than the two chlorides in calcium chloride). In our blood, a normal calcium concentration is approximately 9 +- 1 mg/dL. In 5 L of blood (the typical amount of blood in an adult), there are therefore 500 mg of calcium. The injected amount of calcium this this vaccine would then be 1/2500 of the amount of calcium in the body. Further, it is times 50 smaller than the natural fluctuation in the blood concentration.
Now let us consider sterilization using calcium chloride – here you use around 3-5 grams dissolved in Ethanol. That is again a factor 1000 larger than used in vaccination plus it is dissolved in ethanol instead of water. It simply is as Paracelsus said: “All substances are poisons; there is none which is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison and a remedy”. (I am by the way just an engineering student, not affiliated to any vaccination organization.)
