Barbara Loe Fisher on the SV40 Virus

excerpts from research on vaccines and vaccination policy

It was in 1960 that an NIH scientist named Bernice Eddy discovered that rhesus monkey kidney cells used to make the Salk polio vaccine and experimental oral polio vaccines could cause cancer when injected into lab animals. Later that year the cancer-causing virus in the rhesus monkey kidney cells was identified as SV40 or simian virus 40, the 40th monkey virus to be discovered.

Sadly, the American people were not told the truth about this in 1960. The SV40 contaminated stocks of Salk polio vaccine were never withdrawn from the market but continued to be given to American children until early 1963 with full knowledge of federal health agencies. Between 1955 and early 1963, nearly 100 million American children had been given polio vaccine contaminated with the monkey virus, SV40.

… Today, there are scientists associated with the US government who continue to deny that SV40 causes human cancer or that SV40 associated cancers have had any effect on cancer rates since the early 1960’s. However, highly credentialed non-government scientists in multiple labs around the world continue to identify SV40 in human brain and lung cancers of children and adults and are finding that SV40 is also associated with bone cancers and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas. The majority of these independent scientists have concluded that, yes, SV40 does cause human cancers.

  1. The Book Dr. Mary’s Monkey is an interesting account of the physician Dr. Mary Sherman. Written by the son of a Tulane physician and professor who was friends with Dr. Sherman. Also in the book are Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby. Oswald worked in the lab, also. it describes how they knew the virus was in the vaccine and they used the vaccine anyway (or worse). The murder? of Dr. Mary was never solved. Interesting reading for lay persons.

  2. Thanks for the reminder, Patricia. I recently purchased that book on the recommendation of someone else and forgot it was on my kindle. I have so many other books ahead of it that it’ll probably be sometime next year before I get a chance to read it! I really need to go through the “book” section of my kindle to remind myself what’s there. 😉

  3. Is it possible theae vaccines were given to our parentsvin the west indies in the caribbean also. I never understood why my medical student brother came down with Leukemia at age 23 and died. One doctir said something about chromosome abnormality when he was a child. Nobody else in the family had any bone cancer. His type of leukemia was likened unto one which is found in children. Since my readings on this sv40 virus I wondered if it could have been passed by my mum to him bevause our parents most likely got those vaccines back in the 60s.

  4. For those of you who are not familiar with this virus, the rotavirus is the leading cause of diarrhea in infants, not only in the United States but in the developing world. A number of trials have shown that this vaccine has been useful in reducing the death rate from rotaviral infection in the developing world, and that s the key. In fact, prior to the introduction of the rotavirus vaccine, about 40 infants per year died from this infection. This is because it s diagnosed early on, and simple intervention usually with the administration of intravenous fluids to rehydrate the child is quickly implemented.

  5. Interesting little tidbits, but such an article needs much expansion. Biggest question, just what does it do to people? Well, I have some firsthand knowledge of that. My father got the 1955 Salk vaccine, I got the 1962 version. SV40 infects the kidneys, and the brain of monkeys experimentally infected with it. First thing SV40 does is turn off p53, the guardian of the genome. That leaves and open door for anything and everything that might modify one’s DNA. My father has been given an ALS/Alzheimers diagnosis. Despite my firsthand knowledge, this isn’t the place to write something that would be very expansive. Only thing that saved me was the fact that my mother didn’t get the polio vaccine. That left me with an uncorrupted copy of p53 that I could reactivate. The cancers formed are dying, starting with a lymphoma. SV40 research needs to be refunded. Govt knows it, when I posted on the whitehouse facebook page about SV40, the IRS suddenly started hounding me for $300 in back taxes. Even if it does not cause cancer in the human host, it can cause death that one researcher, Keerti Shah, considered to be “death by natural causes”, without proper pathology procedures. That was research from long ago, and we were all stupid enough to believe Keerti! By the way, he is also behind the HPV vaccine. He stood in the way of SV40 research funding so that his pet HPV vaccine research would get the funding!
