If Only Half of America is Properly Vaccinated, Where are the Epidemics?

In 2014, an outbreak of whooping cough (pertussis) broke out in the San Diego area. Of the 621 individuals who were infected, nearly all of them were completely up to date on all preventive vaccinations. If vaccines are given to protect from disease, how could this happen?

San Diego public health official Dr. Wilma Wooten argued that the cause was related to a decrease in the protection offered by vaccines after the first year. This answer is most revealing, in that it speaks to the actual efficacy of vaccines. It also shows that the concept of herd immunity is largely myth—and completely misunderstood.

The theory of herd immunity states that when a critical mass of the population (usually stipulated at 95%) is vaccinated against a disease, the possibility of outbreaks is eliminated. This is the main argument that is used to shame parents who wish to refuse certain vaccinations for their children: by not vaccinating, they put the health of the “herd” at risk.

However, if vaccines start losing effectiveness after the first year, as Dr. Wooten says, then constant revaccination would be required, since the immunity offered is only temporary for most vaccines. Achieving the required rate of protection is virtually impossible under this paradigm.

Of course, if we look back over the decades and note the lack of rampant epidemics in our nation, while remembering that vaccine protection is in perpetual decline, the myth of herd immunity quickly unravels. Our society has never achieved this level of herd immunity, yet not a single major outbreak of disease has occurred.

Noted author and neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, MD offers this analysis:

It was not until relatively recently that it was discovered that most of these vaccines lost their effectiveness 2 to 10 years after being given. What this means is that at least half the population, that is the baby boomers, have had no vaccine-induced immunity against any of these diseases for which they had been vaccinated very early in life. In essence, at least 50% or more of the population was unprotected for decades.

After a recent outbreak of measles at Disneyland, the state legislature in California took the extraordinary measure of rescinding religious and philosophical exemptions for vaccinations, even for children at higher risk of vaccine injury. State Sen. Richard Pan, who led the fight, argued that it was imperative to public health to maintain herd immunity among the general population, and that to ensure 95% compliance, vaccination had to be mandatory. The law he authored, which risks the health of many vulnerable children, accomplishes nothing—because herd immunity is a myth.

The argument for herd immunity was actually developed out of observations of natural immunity, not vaccination. Statisticians observed that populations were protected when sufficient members contracted the wild form of a disease, and subsequently acquired lifelong immunity. With vaccines, however, evidence shows that unvaccinated children may catch infectious diseases from vaccinated children. What is true of natural immunity is not true of vaccination.

The herd immunity argument has always been inconsistent. On the one hand, the theory goes, people who cannot receive vaccines for whatever reason are protected from the disease through a high level of vaccination in the rest of society. On the other hand, the theory continues, parents who don’t vaccinate their children put the health of wider society at risk. How can a handful of people not getting vaccinated be protected from getting sick, while at the same time being so disease-ridden that they make others sick? This doesn’t make sense.

While herd immunity may not exist, herd mentality most definitely does. Health authorities, media commentators, and schools and their parent–teacher associations waste no opportunity in perpetuating this myth. Proponents have done such a thorough job of convincing the public that a parent who questions it is treated like someone who thinks the earth is flat or believes climate change is a conspiracy. On the contrary: an unprejudiced view of the science about vaccines, and an examination of history, clearly show that the herd immunity theory is—and always has been—flawed.

Vaccines may have a place in our medical arsenal, but they are not the silver bullet they’re portrayed to be. Year after year the pharmaceutical industry, looking for lucrative new profit centers, churns out new vaccines. They use pseudo-science to convince the public that these products are safe and effective, and they use public shaming to convince the citizenry that non-compliance is a public health threat. This entire racket completely falls apart with a close examination of the herd immunity myth. Until we are honest in our assessment of both the safety and efficacy of vaccines, kids will continue to be hurt, rights will continue to be trampled, and mythology will continue to trump science.

  1. Excellent article !!! Indeed, herd immunity does not exist and is merely used to create herd mentality, pressuring people to be vaccinated regardless of the real facts of injury and deaths caused by vaccine ingredients or the inflated efficacy rates the pharmaceutical companies publicize. And if booster shots must be given in ever increasing frequency, how long before pharma companies who have no liability will be paying off the politicians to mandate annual shots for each and every citizen, no matter their age? And how long can a human body take this assault before our immune systems are completely destroyed. Read the inserts, people. Shots that are being recommended for pregnant women have never been tested on pregnant women. Try finding a vaccine insert that doesn’t admit that the vaccine has not been “evaluated for carcinogenic, mutagenicity, or impairment of fertility.” Mandated vaccines are INSANE.

    1. Well said. I’m exhausted from trying to shake since into all who are so Complacent! Vaccinated are shedders. The proof is right in front of our eyes.

  2. Go over to he article on the Hill and see Dorit Reiss & company twist themselves in knots posting distracting arguments & posting epidemiological studies attempting to confirm Herd Immunity. I understand why Disqus is losing so many blogs to other comment board providers. It’s obvious that they are trolls, well know for several years yet they are given free reign. I wish they would come and ply their trade.

  3. Great article! By sheer coincidence, I just recently came across and read the very paper by Dr. Russell Blaylock that’s referenced in this article. The logic of his argument seems sound to me. And speaking of logic, I have just one problem with this article, having to do with the following statement:

“… a parent who questions it is treated like someone who thinks
the earth is flat or believes climate change is a conspiracy.”

Such a statement makes out like climate change is a given. It isn’t (although that’s not really my point here). Obviously, if vaccines are harming as many children as the pro-safe-vaccine crowd claims they are then there pretty much has to be a conspiracy involved — be it motivated by greed or otherwise. The issue certainly has all of the earmarks of a conspiracy — harm being done to a segment of the population as a result of the actions (or inactions) of multiple parties and the facts of this are being kept secret from the victims… That’s a conspiracy. But not just a conspiracy, it’s a conspiracy that would have to include important parts of the government and/or the scientific/medical community. Am I missing something here?

Sure, someone might argue that it’s a conspiracy involving only a small number of individuals but surely, if that’s the case then the government has had plenty of time to take corrective action against those individuals, right? After all, the Dept. of Justice knows everything You and I do, and more. If anything, the government has gone out of its way to protect the conspirators which only further suggests that the conspiracy involves the government itself. So what I’d like to know is, how is it that this “vaccination conspiracy” can exist and yet a conspiracy involving global warming (oops, I mean, climate change) is impossible? You can’t have it both ways. If the science can be falsified regarding vaccines, then why not climate change?

I’d strongly recommend that you strike the entire reference to “climate change”. Logically, it isn’t helping you one bit in arguing against vaccines and it doesn’t help either to convince anyone who doesn’t already share your beliefs regarding climate change — especially when you imply that they also believe the Earth is flat!?

I hope this doesn’t come across as too harsh. Other than this one problem, I think it’s a great article that overall makes a great point. 😉

  4. About 4, 5 yrs ago i figured that the mandatory vaccination was going to be the SWAT assault that destroys the door of our freedoms.

It probably took a few hours here and there for a couple weeks to learn more about vaccines than most pediatricians, pHARMacists (keeping harm large), and general MDs – not to mention the hordes of parents who don’t seem able to think on their own.

The herd immunity myth is so blatantly inaccurate when you look at the CLAIMS regarding vaxassination effectiveness, vs the results, and then throw in the lack of outbreaks, the infectious diseases all basically dying out well BEFORE vaccines AND that they almost all decreased at the same time….

Sort of implies a different set of factors involved, doesn’t it? Now we see “alternative” health doctors being killed who worked with GxMAF – a protein that activates macrophages to fight infection, clean out dead cells, etc. Has anyone figured how this figures into the disease fighting of our biochemistry? Not in vax trials.

Furthermore – they are playing with a SYSTEM of immunity and tweaking one part. Kind of like having the sax play unsyncopated jazz while the rest of the orchestra is playing Vivaldi or something. Until a few years ago it was unknown that the brain had a lymphatic system attached to the rest of the body. (amazing concep, that) We also have been finding out about the impact of our probiotics upon both the brain and how much the immune system actually consists of these probiotics.

Vaxassination “technology” – NEVER LOOKS AT THIS.

As a result – the results of their science drastically need updating because they are like Dark Ages “scientists” ignoring heliocentricity. They are still working and making assumptions that the sun revolves around the planets, and, excuse me: we are way past that in the real world.
