Baylor’s Doc Hotez Bullies Parents of Vaccine Injured Children

young woman gagged

In 2017, in Scientific American magazine, Dr. Hotez called on the U.S. government and G20 nations to take steps to “snuff out” the “American anti-vaccine movement.” To “snuff out” means to “crush or kill.”

Many years ago when I was having a conversation with a senior official at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) during a public engagement meeting, we explored the reasons for why public health officials and parents of vaccine-injured children were at such odds with each other. I said it was because we disagreed about the science. He said, no, it was a disagreement over values and beliefs. This week a physician dean at Baylor University College of Medicine made it clear that it is a lot about doctors getting off on demonizing and bullying parents of vaccine injured children.

According to an article in the Duke Chronicle, Peter Hotez, MD, PhD gave a global health lecture at Duke University in which he called on medical scientists to “engage the public” to promote more financial investment into the development of more vaccines.1 Apparently, he also called on them to counter what he labeled as the “anti-vaccine movement,” which he believes has been “propelled” because “anti-vaccine websites exist with names such as the National Vaccine Information Center.” The article reported that Dr. Hotez castigated politicians from the “peace, love, granola” political left, who believe that “we have to be careful what we put into our kid’s bodies,” and politicians from the political right, who tell doctors like him “you can’t tell us what to do with our kids.”

But Dr. Hotez reserved the bulk of his venom for parents of vaccine injured children. Like a schoolyard bully who engages in name calling when he can’t come up with anything intelligent to say, he slapped the label “anti-vaccine” onto parents of vaccine injured children speaking about what happened to their children after vaccination. Then, he went further and viciously accused those parents of hating their children:

[Anti-vaccine organizations] camouflage themselves as a political group, but I call them for what they really are: a hate group. They are a hate group that hates their family and hates their children.2

In an email, he expanded on his personal feelings about the non-profit charity, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), founded by parents of DPT vaccine injured children, who have worked for 36 years to prevent vaccine injuries and deaths through public education and to secure informed consent protections in vaccine policies and laws.3 4 He said:

The National Vaccine Information Center, is the National Vaccine Misinformation Center. It’s a phony website designed to intimidate and spread false and misleading information about vaccines.  The NVIC is an important driver of the antivaxer movement and one that places children’s [sic] in harm’s way to perpetuate its twisted ideology.’

A vaccine developer, a former president of the Sabin Vaccine Institute and director of the Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development, Professor Hotez is a doctor with a lot of titles who brings a lot of prestige, power and money to any academic setting in which he works or appears.5 6 7 He is also the father of a daughter with autism, who he insists is not vaccine injured.8 Regardless of the cause of his daughter’s brain and immune system dysfunction, as the parent of a developmentally disabled child, Dr. Hotez should know better than to vent his anger and frustration by striking out at other parents with children requiring special education and lifelong care.

This is not the first time that Dr. Hotez has revealed his prejudice against parents, who disagree with him about the safety of vaccines and one-size-fits-all mandatory vaccination policies. In 2017, in Scientific American magazine, Dr. Hotez called on the U.S. government and G20 nations to take steps to “snuff out” the “American anti-vaccine movement.”9 To “snuff out” means to “crush or kill.”10

In his interview for the Duke newspaper, Dr. Hotez chose to use the word “hate” four times in two sentences when he defamed the National Vaccine Information Center by calling it a “hate group.” Branding an organization a “hate group” is not an inconsequential action, morally or legally.

In the 21st century, the term “hate group” is most frequently used to describe groups of individuals associated with “hate crimes,” which are defined by state laws and include threats, harassment or physical harm. Hate crimes are motivated by prejudice against someone’s race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation or physical or mental disability.11

In a July 2017 commentary, Class and Race Profiling in the Vaccine Culture War, I described how some physicians and lawyers in academia have been systematically fomenting fear, hatred and prejudice against any parent or physician who talks about the reality of vaccine injuries and deaths and defends the informed consent principle, which has been the ethical standard for the ethical practice of medicine since World War II.12 A child health advocacy group that points out vaccine science research gaps, criticizes paternalism in medical practice, and challenges the use of utilitarianism as the moral foundation for public health policy does not qualify as a “hate group.”13 14

Prestigious universities like Baylor and Duke, which receive substantial funding from government health agencies to develop and test new vaccines, should have a minimum standard of conduct for professors, whether they are employed to teach students or perform research.15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 Engaging in defamatory speech and using violent imagery to call on governments to “snuff out” people for exercising freedom of thought, speech, conscience and religious belief does not meet even a minimum standard for civil conduct.

Regardless of what vaccine developers and forced vaccination proponents like Dr. Hotez choose to do, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) will continue to publish well referenced information on NVIC.org anchored with links to the CDC, FDA, NIH, National Academy of Sciences, vaccine manufacturer package inserts, articles published in the medical literature, state vaccine laws and other information resources to assist those making educated decisions about vaccination for themselves and their minor children. We will continue to provide a forum for Americans to testify about their personal experiences with vaccination,23 24 we will continue to defend the legal right to exercise freedom of thought, speech, conscience, religious belief and informed consent, all of which have been recognized internationally as human rights.25 26

In a Valentine’s Day 2018 vaccine education awareness campaign, supporters of the National Vaccine Information Center communicated the following two messages to their friends and families: “I love my children and protecting all children” and “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Those are messages that Dr. Hotez and other doctors, who bully parents because they are upset with a challenge to their wisdom and authority on the subject of health and vaccination, do not understand.27 28 The doctors operating the mandatory vaccination system with an iron fist, who refuse to acknowledge or address the suffering of people for whom the risks of vaccination turned out to be 100 percent, would do well to reflect upon the primary role they have played in the crisis of public trust in the safety of vaccines and doctors forcing everyone to use them.

IMO, when people act with such insane thinking, and verbal violence, as Dr Hotez, it reveals a disconnect between their head and their heart. Dr Hotez is acting from his cultural and academic programming; which causes his current, limited capacity to see the truth.

I pray for the bright light of truth to soften his heart. I pray he will wake up to the truth of the massive deception at the foundation of medical education and the sociopathic greed of Big Pharma. I pray he will wake up to the reality, i.e. grief, all parents of vaccine-injured children face. (We all make the best decisions we can based on the information we currently believe.) I pray he will turn his activism toward those responsible for the barbaric practice of vaccination, i.e. legalised genocide.

This doctor’s remarks are simply heartbreaking. Research NEJM and JAMA in 1930’s. Reports written by pediatricians noting devastating injuries and deaths within hours after certain vaccines administered. These reports resurfaced in mid 1960’s. To demonize anyone and use a position of eduction and influence is a clear abuse of power and responsibility and an abuse of the duty owed to patients to above all “do no harm. This is simply heartbreaking.

Thank you, Dr. Hotez, for helping sane, thinking people realize with even greater clarity what it is that we’re fighting against. And maybe Dr. Hotez and his ilk should spend a little more time consulting with Dr. Google to find some of the current peer-reviewed research,so readily available online, that casts great doubts on the safety of the vaccine program. For example–Yehuda Shoenfeld and ASIA (autoimmune syndrome induced by adjuvants). The only thing that will convince these false prophets that something is wrong is if millions of people drop dead immediately after vaccination. Anything more subtle than that is “coincidence”.

Oh, give me a break! My perfectly healthy baby brother died of “sids” the day after receiving 6 vaccinations and to continue operating under the premise that we have no concept how this could have happened and that all these children are dying mysteriously is preposterous! Keep maintaining there is no correlation between vaccines and these sudden deaths and serious injuries and go ahead and keep blaming parents of these incidences of “SIDS” for keeping their baby’s too warm or having a bumper in their cribs. Go ahead and imply they must have had too many blankets even when they didn’t suffocate and keep the blame on parents who have lost their children or on some mysterious cause of death! Who’s the ignorant one here?!

I was there for the Hotez lecture, and it was one of the scariest events in recent Duke history. The anti-vax bashing spectacle hearkened back to Southern lynch mobs from the last century. When I saw the title I knew I had to go to bear witness, but would not be able to make a public comment or risk following in the footsteps of the brave Cleveland Clinic doctor who lost his job over his flu vaccine blog.

Hotez has the cover story of doing good work on attempting to prevent neglected tropical diseases around the world, but he and the lecture he gave are supported by the Gates Foundation whose globalist motivations are quite suspect. The Andrew Wakefield bashing was so intense that comments from the audience were made about bringing criminal charges against anti-vaxxers.

His response indicated how threatened he is by the Texans for Vaccine Choice political action group, and of course he predicted apocalyptic measles epidemics in the near future. He particularly was troubled by the well-educated demographics of the resistance to vaccines movement commenting that they were sophisticated enough to consult Dr. Google, but didn’t have the critical thinking skills to properly evaluate the data.

Unfortunately, the lecture was sponsored by former Duke Chancellor Victor Dzau who is now the President of the National Academy of Medicine. Interestingly the Duke Chronicle Article has lots of anti-vax responses, so they have inadvertently provided a platform for dialogue. http://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2018/02/part-of-this-is-our-fault-global-health-expert-talks-anti-vaccine-movement-preventable-diseases

I am not an M.D, nor a scientist, so I am not considered an “authority” by the current allopathic “medical” community, but rather, I have used my brain to research, assess, observe and to evaluate published articles surrounding the prescribed use of pharmaceuticals on our society as a whole. The one-size fits all mentality is in my mind is criminal.

When I was in grade school, Merck began it’s foray into the development of the polio vaccines. Their “newest” facility was on property adjacent to our grade school. At one point, someone neglected to secured the cages of the test monkeys, and they escaped into the neighborhood. We were not allowed out for recess until all were accounted for, either by shooting them out of trees or capturing them with nets or cages. What we were told was that they feared we would be bitten. And that was a valid fear. What was never publically revealed was the fear of cross-species contamination for viral transmission to humans through a bite. Apparently the study of viruses was not as “advanced” as it is today. Long story short, this incident has always lodged in the back of my mind as a potential root cause for genetic alteration. As children, again the fear of not being “vaccinated” against “polio” took hold with my parents’ generation, lest we ended up as victims in iron lung machines as depicted in TV ads. So, my diligent Mother scraped together funds to be certain that my sister and I, in addition to my cousins, were all vaccinated with both Salk and Sabin polio vaccines.
As I traced my own health issues from that point forward, I could only imagine or deduce the likelihood that those contaminates could have been the cause for Epstine Barr (mono), cancer and other minor issues. Not until I opted to become informed and released myself from the clutches of the allopathic world did I begin to regain health. My genetic pool (and that of my children’s father) has been transferred to my children and theirs, with additional assaults over the decades of mandated vaccines and medical “practices”. Their health is in a steady decline, with one child impacted by the MMR vaccine, left unreported. No relief for him, as an autistic child, except what we as a family could do. We studied, altered diets, and did what we could do educationally. He is a functioning adult, but at a great cost to him and to our family. No other “professionals” will own up to the responsibility for mandating his fate chemically.

All this to say that I believe that the people who believe that we should all subscribe to the herd-immunity concept, including the MDs, the Government officials who promote contamination of this sort (including fluoride and chlorine in our water systems), jump up and man-up and get caught up on their vaccines, all in one day. Let’s see where they land.

Additionally, I propose that if even half of the research funds used both in the U.S. and abroad (and thru the WHO and Bill Gates Foundations) were used to clean up the environments known to be toxic, that humankind could potentially would get healthier on its own. Waterways, agricultural lands, air and seas are so badly contaminated that what we eat and drink no longer nourishes our cells. Our bodies are in a constant state of flux, seeking to find homeostasis as fine-tuned machines. How can a one-size fits all drug-induced, follow-the-money mentality benefit the greater majority? I find this plague of fear-mongering to be highly unconscionable, immoral, and criminal, leaving behind millions of victims with no recourse. Follow the money, and read the Geneva Accord! Who died and left you guys in charge of my health?

Wow… I have a daughter who has had all her vaccines and more thanks to the doctors whom I listened to. And she almost died due to the vaccines. Most of us who are a part of the “anti-vaccine” groups are parents who at one time followed the vaccine dogma. So to say it’s a hate group or that we hate our children is evil to the fullest! I love my children to my core. I sat by my teen daughters side in a children’s hospital for 6 nights. I was pregnant slept on a hard as rock sofa ate hospital food and every move or sound she made I was up. I didn’t sleep hardly for 6 full days! And I was carrying a baby! I am so blessed that my other child even made it into this world with all the stress I was under with my teen. All the while no one would admit the vaccines injured my teen. Yet even after all the doctors seeing my teen and doing all kinds of horrible test they had no clue what caused her illness! She went from a fully happy healthy teen to skin and bones and almost dying in a matter of weeks after vaccines. But the doctors say no link! This is why we need NVIC and other “anti-vaccine” sites because without them children like my daughter go unheard! Parents are made out to be hateful hippys/ idiots… There is a reason us parents shifted our trust away from the medical field. If you put medicine into my child and it harms them and then you can’t help my child after or even admit fault of what the medicine did then of course i’m not going to trust you the medical field fully anymore.

These docs with their fancy degrees act like they know more than the average man, like we are incapable of reading and determining our own fate and understanding what these vaccines do or can do… praying for leaders to stand strong! I have 2 friends with boys and both have vaccine injured kids, the 2 yr vax mark seemed to be the trigger. Each had fevers very high for 5 days… but the docs were right , just random infection. People need to start studying the narcissist personalities, as they are increasing in the population rapidly. They are also called High Conflict people as they are the ones clogging up the justice system, especially in family and civil court. There are whole companies devoted to teach people how to deal with narcissists, they also teach lawyers, judges, social workers, business owners how to deal with this vicious and deadly personality. The guy (Hotez) has had one too many vaccines himself, I fear. It’s boggled his senses and addled his brain.

There is really no logic in what he says about attacking parents because if the children were vaccine injured, that means that HAD the vaccines and the parents were not antivaccine at all – at least not to begin with, but only after their child suffered an adverse event.

      The guy is a dipstick.

The obvious and very sad pattern of people who have not a leg to stand on with their viewpoints is to then spew venom at those who are, indeed, pointing out the weakness of their position. Trolls on the internet, doctors at conferences, anyone who is siding with Big Pharma on the vaccine issue, all root their biggest “points” in how uneducated, deluded, or basically awful those parents whose kids are walking facts of vaccine injury are.

Yet another example. The larger the problem becomes, the harder the autism genie becomes to stuff back into their bottle, the louder, more accusatory and vicious becomes the pro-vaccine lobby.

If it were his child or grandchild, I must wonder, would he then join the hew and cry against vaccines, or continue to spew hatred against those who have witnessed the awful truth that vaccines kill, destroy lives, and yes, CAUSE AUTISM (and a host of other problems today).

What a brave organization NVIC is and how scary are these doctors getting?? I think what has driven the vaccine debate into underground territory is actually collective guilt and shame and denial of doctors generally. I think many doctors after vaccinating blindly with no research or independent thought of their own – yes, lovely phrase, “moron with a medical degree” – are now subconsciously deeply guilty and in deep denial of what they have participated in and the only way they cope is by demonising those who want to talk truth. As a counselor who has dealt with denial in many forms I see that the first step when a client is starting to engage is huge anger and aggression. That does not help the kids and I am tired of trying to find excuses for these people. Grow up and wake up, we have no time to waste.

My very first thought was that this individual is highly defensive since his dogma is being rejected by a mass movement of educated people and he is convinced he should be the ultimate authority.
I’m an RN with a background that allows me to understand the purported “science” in ways that many nurses do not. I am also aware that providers couldn’t tell you how vaccines worked if grilled, let alone discuss ingredients and GI vs muscular absorption of said ingredients. Most even refuse to link neurological disease of any kind with toxin exposure. Hell, they’re still telling diabetics to watch their fat intake! When it comes to health, the LAST thing I trust is an MD.
These guys need to wake up to the fact that their own journals have noted that high dose vitamin A and D are more effective at preventing flu than their damn shots and the diseases they keep stating are back with a vengeance due to unvaccinated kids are actually coming over the boarder through illegal immigration.
Healthcare is politics, prevention starts with individual responsibility. NVIC allows for intelligent discussion and information exchange and I refer colleagues and interested patients regularly. Thank you for everything you do.

The time has come to stop making excuses for Dr. Hotez and his gang of bullies. What we need to counter his thuggish rhetoric is a new application of a concept our society already understands: racism. For many decades, modern sociology has understood that race is a social construct and not necessarily tied to skin color or ethnicity. Indeed, Wikipedia defines race as “a concept used in the categorization of humans into groups, called races or racial groups, based on combinations of shared physical traits, ancestry, genetics, and social or cultural traits.” Certainly, this definition is amply wide to encompass categorization based on the physiology of one’s immune system, in particular whether one’s immune system has been modulated by vaccination. In this regard, we need to stop speaking of not vaccinating as a choice, because the default state of human physiology is not a choice, it is the God-given (or natural) order. The act of targeting individuals, families, or even whole communities, for discrimination based on physiology is a phenomenon we understand to be racism. That most people chose to be vaccinated does not alter the fact that they make themselves physiologically distinct. Vaccination, after all, induces a permanent change to one’s physiology. The fact that this change is wrought through technology rather than organically simply does not matter. The difference is mere semantics. Since we do not wish to simply ignore semantics, we may add a qualifier. I call excluding healthy children from school based on immune status “high-tech racism.”

Regardless of some people’s misconceptions, Dr. Hotez is not ignorant. He knows how to use rhetoric and manipulate emotions; we ignore the sophistication of our adversary at our peril. When he says “They are a hate group that hates their family and hates their children” he is not making an off-the-cuff remark, because a person that hates her family or hates his children is a not only a social outcast, but an unfit parent that could find herself in family court in a termination of parental rights case. Dr. Hotez knows the destruction of families is a form of social and political repression, just as denial of educational opportunities is a form of repression. When the basis for such repression is lack of a physical characteristic wrought by technology, this is high-tech racism. I call Dr. Hotez a high-tech racist.

I understand that the subject of racism is a sensitive one. Blacks in America endured centuries of race-based slavery, which was an institution where children and spouses were legally sold away never to be seen again. While being sensitive to past and present atrocities commonly understood as racist, we have a duty to recognize that racism takes many forms. This is not to diminish or misappropriate other groups’ suffering. On the contrary, we study the past to avoid mistakes in the present. In my home state of Vermont, the same agency that promoted the forced sterilization of Catholic, Quebecois and Abenaki women to protect Vermont as the “seed-bed of America” (as part of the Vermont Eugenics program) is now the agency promoting the denial of educational opportunities to students whom it deems to have inferior physiology. It is important to draw these parallels, because many of the arguments concerning protection of the herd and the “greater good” are historically arguments made by racists past.

What an amazing article and excellent comments.
You all read him to filth. Loved it.
I haven’t read such a great group of articulate clap backs in a while.
What a refreshing and fulfilling read!

He’s never allowed any critical comments through on his PLoS blogs either. He’s also blocked Autism Investigated on Twitter.

He currently represents the US in a position of international diplomacy. Let’s get him kicked off!

    He’s a very dangerous person — a moron with a medical degree.

He can’t face the fact that his own autistic daughter was injured by his beloved vaccines, instead choosing to attack the people who he should be listening to.

It’s not as though Hotez has not been provided all of the information he needs to be truly informed of the flaws in the studies CDC uses to prop up the myths of universal vaccine safety they peddle. When confronted, Hotez never fails to turn tail and flee. https://jameslyonsweiler.com/2017/01/24/rational-discourse-on-flaws-in-vaccine-flaws-in-vaccine-safety-studies-elicit-irrational-responses-from-plos-plosblog/

Apparently NVIC is doing a good job to become a threat to this big pharma ass kisser Dr. Hotez. He is the epitome of the arrogant, condescending, over-educated physician. He is the one who hates his child. All of that education and he doesn’t get the connection between autism and the injection of chemicals over and over into the infant body.

Perfectly parsed. Bravo! Thank you for your courage and well articulated opposition to vaccine tyranny. Please continue!
