Is There a Link Between Vaccines and the Rise in Pediatric Cancer?

child with cancerStory Highlights

  • Pediatric cancer has been increasing over the last few decades.
  • The causes of most pediatric cancers are not known.
  • The possible link between vaccines and pediatric cancer has not been fully investigated.

According to the American Cancer Society, after accidents, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children between the ages of one and four. Although pediatrics cancers account for less than one percent of all cancers diagnosed each year, the number of children diagnosed with cancer has been rising steadily over the last few decades.1

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimated that 10,270 new cases of pediatric cancers would be diagnosed in 2017 in children from birth to the age of 14. Approximately 1,190 of these children were expected to die as a result of cancer.2

The Five Most Common Pediatric Cancers in the U.S.

Interestingly, the types of cancers that develop in children are different than those that occur in adults.3 According to an article published in CURE Magazine:

The difference between childhood and adult cancers rarely comes down to simply age. Most tumors in children differ biologically from their adult counterparts, and are typically due to the type of cell from which the cancer originates. In the weeks after fertilization, the embryo develops into layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. These layers lay the foundation for the development and maturation of tissues and organs in the body. Adult cancers, such as lung, breast, and colorectal, typically develop from epithelial tissue (adenocarcinomas), which come from the ectoderm or endoderm. Epithelial cells make up the skin and lining of the internal organs and glands. Alternatively, childhood cancers, including sarcomas (cancers of the bone or muscle) and leukemia (blood cancers), develop from the mesoderm.4

The most common pediatric cancer is acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), accounting for 34 percent of all pediatric cancers. Leukemia begins in the bone marrow and spreads to the blood. This type of cancer typically occurs between the ages of two to four years and is more common in males than females.3

Brain tumors and nervous system tumors constitute about 27 percent of pediatric cancers.

Most brain tumors in children typically begin in the lower part of the brain.3 Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer than develops in certain types of nerve tissue, accounts for seven percent of pediatric cancers. It is more common in males under the age of five.3

Wilms tumor is the fourth common type of pediatric cancer affecting the kidneys and children between the ages of three to four years. Wilms accounts for five percent of all pediatric cancers.3

Lymphoma is the fifth most common type of pediatric cancer and occurs in a very small percentage of children. This type of cancer begins in immune system cells known as lymphocytes.3

Cause of Most Pediatric Cancers Has Yet to be Determined

The search for the causes of pediatric cancers has been systematically studied over the last few decades. However, there are no conclusive answers on what is causing children to develop cancer.5

According to NCI and a report published in Pediatric Clinics of North America, five to 10 percent of pediatric cancers are believed to be caused by an inherent genetic mutation, a mutation that can be passed on from parents to their child.6 For example, 25 to 30 percent of retinoblastoma, a cancer of the eye that occurs in primarily in children, is believed to be caused by an inherited gene mutation known as RB1.6

Nonetheless, retinoblastoma only accounts for four percent of pediatric cancers and the cause of the remaining 70 percent of cases is still unknown.6

In another example, children with a genetic condition known as Down Syndrome are ten to twenty times more likely to develop leukemia than children without Down Syndrome. However, only a very small proportion of pediatric leukemia is associated with Down Syndrome.6

Studies have shown that that besides high dose radiation and prior chemotherapy, there are very few external or environmental risk factors known to be associated with pediatric cancers.5 Environmental factors refer to exposures children are exposed to that originate outside the human body.5

According to the NCI:

Most cancers in children, like those in adults, are thought to develop as a result of mutations in genes that lead to uncontrolled cell growth and eventually cancer. In adults, these gene mutations are often the result of exposure to environmental factors, such as cigarette smoke, asbestos, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. However, environmental causes of childhood cancer have been difficult to identify, partly because cancer in children is rare, and partly because it is difficult to determine what children might have been exposed to early in their development.”6

Potential Link Between Vaccination and Pediatric Cancer Has Not Been Investigated

In the United States, the number of vaccines government health officials’ direct pediatricians to give to children has almost quadrupled in the last 60 years.7 In 1953, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) directed physicians to give a child up to 16 doses of four vaccines between the ages of two months and six years.7 The CDC now recommends that children receive more than triple the number of doses of vaccines, which are given between the day of birth and six. [The CDC’s 2018 childhood vaccine schedule recommends 50 doses of 14 vaccines before the age of six.]8

Coinciding with the significant increase in the number of vaccines is a simultaneous increase in chronic neurological and autoimmune disorders in children, including pediatric cancer.9 Most vaccine package inserts include a statement along the lines of, This vaccine has not been evaluated for its carcinogenic or mutagenic potentials or impairment of fertility,” which suggests that the potential link between cancer and vaccines has not been thoroughly studied.10 In fact, some vaccine ingredients, such as formaldehyde are known carcinogens.11

It is worth noting that there was public discussion in the 1990s about the contamination of both the Salk inactivated and Sabin live polio vaccines with a monkey virus (SV-40) known to cause cancer in lab animals. Federal health officials acknowledged that SV40 was found in early polio vaccines produced with the use of infected African Green monkey kidney tissues. However, they rejected the finding of a causal association between SV40 and human cancers reported by credentialed non-government scientists in multiple labs around the world, who had independently identified SV40 in the brain and lung cancers of children and adults.12 13

Until well-designed biological mechanism and epidemiological studies are conducted to investigate vaccines and pediatric cancer, including a comparison of cancer rates in vaccinated and unvaccinated children, the question about whether vaccines do or do not cause cancer in children will remain unanswered.

Never really thought about that question. The fear factor in seeing children with such diseases was enough for us to opt out, change our diet completely, and fess up the additional cash for safer products. It’s a struggle but it’s worth it. We have a right to a chemical free life if we so choose. Got rid of environmental local toxins, cleaning products, dangerous offgassing in furniture, have water filtration systems, shower filter, etc. We consume primarily non gmo organic sugar free foods, what a wonderful change from the processed foods we were conditioned to upon growing up. We shop at the goodwill and avoid as many plastics in purchasing as we are able, plastic a victim of it’s on success that will take the rest of us down with it. So if you go through all that effort, who would be stupid enough to inject those toxins into their blood stream. I keep on telling you guys, if you’re concerned about vaccinations, you’d be a fool to ignore genetically modified food, ignore water toxicity via municipal non filtration (yes, much of your water you drink never passes through a solid state filter.), you’d be a fool to ignore the chemicals in cleaning products, fsc’s in furniture, msg analogs in nearly all processed foods, not be able to recognize the 10 forms of sugar fraudulently concealed in foods, that sort of thing. Chemicals, I don’t care what form they’re delivered in, we don’t want them, we don’t need them. We reject chemicals and the chemical lobbies clever hooks into all facets of ‘safety related organizations.’ Better living through not being exposed to chemicals. We’re not worrying about childhood cancer, we’re worrying about college, being our 1st grader already tested 5th grade. As expected, the public school staff won’t acknowledge the fact she is non vaccinated and an organic eater likely plays a strong role. Thank you to Colorado team at NVIC, for the simple opt out pages, our children are non vaccinated in public school thanks to your efforts. We’ll donate again soon when we are able. Now how to get the teachers to quit rewarding good behavior with dangerous foods… How to escape the discrimination of being denied sports participation because they’re not ‘vaxxed’. A ways to go, but still, Thank you.

When the CDC refuses to test the current and cumulative vaccine schedule for safety and consistently DENIES the damage it is inflicting on this generation of children , well it is criminal! We have failed our children immensely by allowing the CDC and government to allow our children to be harmed by their complete negligence in regards to vaccines and their safety. It is no wonder that the US is number 1 in SIDS, SUIDS, day of birth deaths, auto immune diseases and childhood cancers, and autism.

Ultrasounds should also be considered and studies more! We know it can and does cause damage to cellular function, the radiation heats up bone and tissue, and even effects cell enzymes. This has got to be looked at and yet no one is even talking about it! Combine ultrasound radiation, vaccines and GMO’s and I don’t know how every child isn’t developing cancer!

Jaimi, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I was unaware of this. Hey, wait a minute, I had that ultrasound twice on my family jewels, my wife had one on her kidneys, as well as our two children. Hey, wait a minute! Actually this issue is constantly cast as fringe, when the fact is they don’t really know the consequences of such invasive wave based visualization tools. When you get an MRI all of your cells and parts of the cell stand straight up in a magnetized state forced by external stimuli. Likewise, we’re not sure about long term effects of that. Nearly all ‘medical practice’ is invasive one way or another. Have you noticed how providers of herbs and non pharmaceutical products have seen their free speech abridged? They’re not allowed to say what the herb is good for. Got to see the big picture. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. You don’t want to go to the hospital except for major injury or debilitating condition. At the hospital they don’t create cures, they create customers.

How many other factors affect us that are not investigated? Formaldehyde is in particle board, used extensively in mobile homes and by do it yourselfers. If this is in your house,a it will affect thinking, neurological systems, development and is known to cause cancer. The government has know this since 2012 but allows it’s use. What else endangers our children?

Thanks to all of you for your Posts. I know my son in the late 70’s had extreme reactions to vaccines. Then he had more in the late 70’s. He came down with Scarlet Fever…..it was awful. My Pediatrician said NO MORE. I never did any more…..back then it was “legal”. Increase in Cancer……….yes, but more factors too. I am making sure my Grandchildren get limited vaccines over time …..and get homeopathics to help any side effect. Blessing to all the parents and children today.

There is NO question in my mind about the link between vaccines and childhood cancer. But I can also do you one better than that. I had never even known or heard of a child with cancer when I had my first child in 1985. The possibility of that happening to one of my children never even crossed my mind.

For the entire nine months of the pregnancy (in the mid 1980s) I worked as a data entry operator for a University, with my pregnant belly within an inch of a computer monitor. Having heard that they emitted radiation, I checked with two different gynecologists about the safety of this arrangement and was assured it would not harm my unborn child.

Having already done some studying about vaccines and knowing their danger, I did not allow my newborn to be vaccinated at all until he was 6 months old. For that first 6 months of life he was perfectly healthy….not sick one time. And being concerned about the LIVE polio vaccine, I found a doctor who would give him the killed, injected polio. I now wonder if that was a bad decision…it may have been even worse than the ‘live’ virus vaccine.

At 6 months he was given only the polio and the DPT, from which he developed a large red, hot, welt on his leg, and screamed a lot for 24 hours or so. He then began developing constant ear infections that never stopped for the rest of his life.

By the time he was four, I began questioning if there was something wrong with his brain, because even though he was very bright, his behavior just didn’t seem ‘right’ to my maternal instincts…very volatile. His father assured me he was fine and we were financially challenged, so we did not pursue it.

At age eight he began to have back pains and limped a little. Several trips to the chiropractor didn’t help. Eventually weight loss, a swollen belly and fever led to a diagnosis of neuroblastoma…cancer of the nervous system. After 22 months of various treatments, he passed away.

Fast forward two years later (1997) when I was pregnant again and sitting in the gynecologist’s examining room waiting for the doctor to come in. How surprised I was to pick up a magazine article that itemized environmental (and other) factors that were known or suspected causes of childhood cancer…including causes in utero. Of course, in 1997 the medical community wasn’t about to allow anyone to question vaccines as a culprit, but one of the suggested causes was an unborn baby being in close proximity to a computer monitor from the mid 1980s for prolonged periods of time. Apparently by 1997 the medical community knew that those particular monitors emitted a very high amount of radiation which could affect a developing fetus. Wouldn’t you know it! Oh how I wish I had learned to trust my intuition at that time!

The point is, I suspect that the computer monitor ‘set things up’ for future pediatric cancer while my child was unborn, and the vaccines I allowed at 6 months and beyond finished the job. The doctors told us while he was under treatment from age 8 to 10 that they could see that he had had cancer in his adrenal glands at some earlier point in life, but that his immune system had conquered it.

Needless to say, the child I had in 1997 has had no vaccines, and we are very cautious about the way we use computers and electronics in our home. Trust your intuition…not the medical community!

Yes, the number of vaccines given to children have gone up.

But as I’m sure the author knows, the number of things that the body of the child has been exposed by vaccines to has gone way, way down. The best example is the elimination of the smallpox vaccine which exposed children to many, many more antigens than all the vaccines given today. Changes in other vaccines have also reduced the number of antigens greatly. Dr. Offit has detailed the changes.

And of course, the number of things that infants are exposed to just by being born is much, much, much higher.

Me, I think the correlation is between cancer and climate change and burning coal. That’s as good an explanation as the author’s.

Polio vaccine causes cancer as stated by Dr. Maurice Hilleman:
Vaccine pioneer admits adding cancer-causing virus to Vaccine-
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13QiSV_lrDQ
      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10472327

Reading Janine Roberts extremely revealing books:”Fear of the Invisible” and “The Vaccine Papers” she reveals that the monkeys that carried the SV-40 virus were used for decades in vaccine development. So yea, if you correlate the time frame of the the number of vaccines and the increase in the number of childhood cancers-it’s pretty compelling.

Your premise is only partially logical. If environmental toxins are likely to blame, how could direct injection into the blood stream of any toxin lessen the danger. Sorry bro, sell off your big pharma stocks, the growth phase is over. We’re not buying.

This is the story of my own son who went on to develop Autism and Seizures just before his 3rd Birthday about a week after his Pertussis booster shot. His seizure disorder worsened every year until it eventually took his life at the age of 17.
Why must so many families be subjected to this devastating life changing condition. There are more children today getting Autism than these vaccines help!
Profits over our children’s lives needs to stop now. No more victims, no more loss of life.
We need to keep fighting this corruption and make the world a safer place for our children. This is unacceptable!
What kind of future does a Nation have when 1 in 50 adults will have Autism after this generation becomes adults.
    This has got to stop!

Considering ALL the healthy unvaccinated children out there, and all the time that could have been spent investigating those healthy unvaccinated children, it’s a real sad and unfair dilemma. I am personally involved, with 4 unvaccinated children, and 10 unvaccinated (or lightly vaccinated) healthy grandchildren.

Just make sure that your children and grandchildren don’t go anywhere where that they can much more likely catch the diseases that vaccines protect against. That would include most of the world.

I’m not going to talk about your breaking the social bargain of protecting thru vaccination those who can’t be successfully vaccinated or those whose immune systems are compromised. But you better make sure your kids stay home.

I have 7 children, 15 grandchildren, most of whom are either fully or partially unvaccinated. My oldest was born in ’79. Back then you tried to time when kids got chicken pox. All of my kids except the youngest (16) got it. Annoying, but no big deal. I did childcare and worked in childcare facilities and church ministry. A couple of my kids traveled out of the country. The majority of my kids never had more than one antibiotic needed throughout childhood and none of them get sick like those around them. My oldest two had been partially vaccinated. We stopped due to reactions, and they are the ones who did have things like ear infections, rashes, learning issues. Of my grandkids, the healthiest are those who have never been vaccinated. Vaccines hinder rather than build immune systems.

Send your healthy lifestyle children wherever:
After they catch measels and chicken pox they’ll have life long immunity
and the daughters will be able to confer protective immunity to their children for their
        first eighteen months of life.
After they recover from whooping cough (take vitamin C to help with the cough) they will have a good thirty years of immunity.
Unlike the rest of the vaccinated masses they won’t be :
        1. asymptomatic carriers of pertussis ;
        2. Susceptible to antigenic sin in which they may never be immune to these diseases due to the ineffective vaccines recieved;
        3. Building up antibiotic resistance because of their increased susceptibility to infection;
        4. Catching and transmitting the flu strain which wasn’t in the vaccine; and
        5. In constant need of boosters for the rest of their life.

Are your vaccines up to date Sheldon?

Please provide “independent” double blind placebo based controlled study on the effectiveness of a childhood vaccine (that means it prevents a child from being infected)and long term safety of a vaccine.

Independent means that the study has ABSOLUTELY no vaccine/pharma/CDC/researchers or research/or university/hospital groups that receive funding from any of these entities. No funding can be traced back to any entity that has vested financial or political interest in maintaining the vaccine agenda.

Studies Show that Vaccinated Individuals Spread Disease

Also the FDA states that people vaccinated with the Pertussis BACTERIA are contagious:

Nearly a century after the release of the whooping cough (B. Pertussis) vaccine, mounting evidence suggests that widespread mandated use of the vaccine could potentially be doing more harm than good in the long term—in addition to having been found lacking in the effectiveness department. As reported by The Washington Post:

“The research suggests that while the vaccine “may” keep people from getting sick, it doesn’t prevent them from spreading whooping cough — also known as Pertussis — to others.

‘It could explain the increase in Pertussis that we’re seeing in the US,’ said one of the researchers, Tod Merkel of the Food and Drug Administration…

The study, titled: “Acellular Pertussis vaccines protect against disease but fail to prevent infection and transmission in a nonhuman primate model,” used infant baboons to test the hypothesis that “current acellular pertussis vaccines fail to prevent colonization and transmission” of B. Pertussis. (there is no vaccine for Bordetella Pertussis bacteria) http://www.pnas (dot) org/content/111/2/787

Lead author Tod Merkel did comment to the New York Times that when exposed to B. Pertussis after recently getting vaccinated, you could be an asymptomatic carrier and infect others, saying:

“When you’re newly vaccinated, you are an asymptomatic carrier, which is good for you, but not for the population.”

Your comment about those who can’t be vaccinated is pure propaganda because the CDC has on their website protocols for children who have various illness such as cancer who can be vaccinated once their treatment is completed. If they are in treatment such as chemo or radiation they are most likely in the hospital or not out in public which is standard protocol because their immune system are weakened. If a child is receiving chemo or radiation and a parent is taking them out in public than that’s an irresponsible parent and no one is to blame but the parent if the child become ill, even if it’s just a cold.
